Egyptian sites and Museums reopened - First day report

Dr. Zahi Hawass said that with the first day of re-opening the historical sites and museums all over Egypt(most of the museums and the other museums will be open according to the security in their hosted towns), tour groups were visiting the sites according to the reports he received especially at the Egyptian Musem in Cairo,Karnak Temple and Saqqara. Although the numbers are between 20 to 50 visitor but it was noticeable the number of Egyptian families visiting the sites on the first day to be reopened.
He also referred that the Tourism and Antiquities police are back in their positions alongside the ministry of Antiquities’ security personnel to protect the open sites and the armed forces still securing the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
The numbers of visitors to different sites

Saqqara
Approximately 800 Egyptian visitors and between 25 to 40 tourists daily

Karnak Temple
Sunday till 1pm 39 visitors

Egyptian Museum, Cairo
First group arrived at 9:15am from Holland followed by German, Japanese and later an Italian group.

Salah El Din Citadel
15 visitors around 11am

(The open museums includes also Luxor Museum, Mummification Museum, Coptic Museum, Islamic Art Museum and Nubian Museum)
