Fully discovered by Carter. No more to King Tutankhamun’s tomb.

High-level geophysics research provides conclusive evidence on the non-existence of hidden chambers adjacent to or inside Tutankhamun’s tomb (KV62).

Dr. Mostaf Waziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities announced that the Head of the Italian scientific team Dr. Francesco Porcelli of the Polytechnic University of Turin is to provide all details of the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) studies and analysis during a speech he would deliver later today at the current Fourth Tutankhamun International Conference.

The team also include experts from the nearby University of Turin and from two private geophysics companies, Geostudi Astier (Leghorn) and 3DGeoimaging (Turin), who have completed the analysis of the GPR data collected from the inside of Tutankhamun’s tomb (code name KV62) last February 2018.
Dr. Waziri pointed out that Dr. Porcelli has submitted a scientific report to the Permanent Committee for Ancient Egyptian Antiquities at the Ministry of Antiquities with all the results of the GPR data analyses, revealing that the GPR scans were performed along vertical and horizontal directions with very dense spatial sampling. Double antenna polarizations where also employed, with transmitting and receiving dipoles both orthogonal and parallel to the scanning direction. 

Dr. Porcelli asserted that the main findings are as follows: No marked discontinuities due to the passage from natural rock to man-made blocking walls are evidenced by the GPR radargrams, nor there is any evidence of the jambs or the lintel of a doorway. Similarly, the radargrams do not show any indication of plane reflectors, which could be interpreted as chamber walls or void areas behind the paintings of KV62 funerary chamber. 

It is concluded, with a very high degree of confidence, said Dr. Porcelli, the hypothesis concerning the existence of hidden chambers or corridors adjacent to Tutankhamun’s tomb is not supported by the GPR data. 

This is the third GPR survey to be conducted. It was designed to stop the controversy aroused after the contradictive results of two previous radar surveys carried out by a scientific Japanese and American teams, to inspect the accuracy of a theory launched in 2015 by British Egyptologist Nicholas Reeves who suggested the existence of queen Nefertiti’s tomb concealed behind the north and west wall paintings of king Tutankhamun’s burial chamber. 

To solve the difficulties encountered by the two preceding surveys and provide a conclusive response, the Ministry of Antiquities in early 2016, decided to discuss the matter in the second International Tutankhamun Conference held in May 2016 and attended by a group of pioneer scholars, archaeologists and Egyptologists who on their turn asserted to conduct a third GPR systems with different technology to put an end to such debate.

Breaking News: Radar scan results are in for King Tut

Dr. Mostafa Waziry, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, announced today that the results for the third radar scan done by the Italian team are in.

According to Dr. Waziry, the results show no sign of any doors or corridors or hidden rooms behind the walls of the boy King.

Exclusive: latest news from valley of the kings with photos from King Tut's tomb

The radar scan started at King Tutankhamun's tomb (KV62) by a team of Egyptian and American specialists including Dr. Khalid El-Anany (minister of antiquities), Dr. Mamdouh El-Damaty (former minister of antiquities), Dr. Yasser El-Shaib, Dr. Abbas Mohamed (Geophysics specialist) alongside specialists from National Geographic society. 

This radar scan this time using GSSI radar of model SIR4000 with digital antennas of 400 and 900Mhz.

The scan started by scanning the wall of the annex room to take a reading can be compared of a wall known what's behind it. 

Then the scan of the northern wall started from left to right (starting from end of west wall going towards the treasury room end of the northern wall)

Exclusive footage: As good as new. King Tut's golden mask is back on display

FAfter 68 days since the famous golden mask of King Tutanhamon was moved from its display case and taken into room number 55 for restoration. It is finally back to where it belongs in the Egyptian museum in Tahrir. 

Dr. Manding El Damaty (Minister of Antiquities),  Christian Eckmann (German conservation specialist), Dr. Stephan Seidlmayer (Head of DAI Cairo) and the representative of German ministry of foreign affairs spoke at the press conference which was held at the Egyptian museum on Wednesday evening.

The mask which was moved on the morning on 10th of October, it was moved back to its case amongst the other King Tutankhamen's treasures on Wednesday evening after closing hours of the museum. The moving actually started 4:45pm and the mask was already in its place by 5:30pm under the supervision of Dr. El Damaty, Dr. Khalid Anany (Director of The Egyptian Museum) and Dr. Moamen Othman (Head of restoration department at the museum).

Permission granted for Reeves to use radars in King Tut's tomb in his search for Nefertiti

Dr. Mamdouh El Damaty, minister of antiquities, told Luxor Times that the permanent committee approved in its meeting yesterday the proposal from Dr. Nicholas Reeves to use radars in King Tutankhamon tomb (KV62) in the valley of the kings in order to determine if there is any hidden rooms behind the northern and western wall of the golden king's tomb. 

The minister emphasised that this step was taken after making sure that the radars and equipment that will be used will not affect the tomb, its walls or painted scenes in anyway.

The elementary work will start as soon as all permissions granted. 

Dr. El Damaty also said "This could be a big step in the discovery of the century if Dr. Reeves studies and theory is proven to be correct."
