The Coptic and Islamic Museums are temporarily closed

Zahi Hawass explained that the decision to close the Coptic and Islamic museums in Cairo is a precautionary measure because they are not totally secured as much as the Egyptian Museum but it is expected to reopen them on Monday when it is reassured that it is fully secured for visits.

The Egyptian Museum is reopened and heavily guarded

The Egyptian Museum in Cairo received visitors from different nationalities this morning as it was reopened. The museum was closed yesterday because of the riots that took place on Friday night and early hours of Saturday in Tahrir Square.
Dr. Zahi Hawass declined the claims by some news agencies and web sites that the museum was closed permanently referring that the museum received at 9am five groups of different nationalities.
From an eye witness: The museum is heavily guarded by more number of military existences around it after the incidents yesterday and the stones throwing towards the museum.
