Egyptians and Americans Team Up for Tennis Program

The U.S. Embassy in Cairo is pleased to stage a series of tennis workshops in Cairo and Alexandria from January 29 to February 2, 2011, led by two American tennis coaches from El-Sawy Tennis Academy in Tampa, Florida, and involving 80 Egyptian tennis players. The Embassy hails this program as a way to build cultural bridges between Egyptians and Americans.

The program will teach a diverse group of young tennis players aged 8 – 11 more about tennis skills and strategies, personal development, and ways that sports can open doors for education and international exposure. Participants can then deploy these valuable tips in their home clubs and pass on to other players.

The workshops’ lead tennis instructor, Tamer El Sawy, is a former Egyptian national tennis champion who used his tennis skills to attend an American university, compete internationally as one of the top 150 tennis players in the world, and manage a successful U.S.-based tennis academy.  Joining him is Aaron Komareck, an expert with over 17 years of experience working with elite athletes and professional teams, who currently serves as the Senior Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning at the University of South Florida.
