The first Museum management institute in Egypt

This announcement was made after Dr. Zahi Hawass meeting with James Bever (USAID director).

Ministry or Antiquities (MOA) announced the plans to establish an institute specialised in developing the Egyptian museums ‘curators skills and train them on the latest scientific techniques in the museums management. The institute in co-operation with the United States and the duration of the study will be 2 years and accredited by ministry of higher education to offer Master and Phd degress in museum sciences.

Hawass said that the institute will be funded through a 5 million dollars grant from the USAID and the tutors will be qualified and specialised professional both Egyptians and foreigners. There will be 60 students as the first phase.

El Kazdoghly palace at Simon Bolivar square (across the road from ARCE and few steps away from the American Embassy and Tahrir Square) will be used as the premises for the institute after renovations but the activities of the institution will take place in one of the ministry buildings for now.
